The App is an overall sales tool combining brief product details with a description of the company, its’ history, structure and operational methods.

For the actual rail projects, during the planning and operational phases, our customers need quick access to the product specific areas. This is important as planners need to know the capabilities of the tools so they can be confident they are ordering the correct equipment and the operators need to know specific details about the tools.

The operator information is vital as it is normally required immediately during live jobs. Some of the details required are for operation of the equipment (battery recharge times, consumable requirements etc.) and some are safety critical such as knowing the vibration and noise levels (there are very strict rules as to the exposure time to noise and vibration. Failure to comply is a major disciplinary issue).

Our customers need instant access to this information and their feedback stated that the website was too big and complex to access the data quickly and efficiently. We did not want to completely redo the website for this purpose as that would take out the sales element which works well for us.

A good solution would be to have a stand-alone app. which all participants in the project can download on their devices and access the product specific information. At the moment customers are circumventing our digital information by contacting our sales and operational managers directly with simple product queries that could be easily answered online. As the majority of rail work takes place throughout the night you can imagine this type of response is unsustainable.

Our customers agree a product specific app would be an ideal solution, they would have instant access to the information required without being ‘bogged down’ in the other areas of the website. The app is vital for our business, rail projects are planned months in advance, any failure or miscommunication regarding our equipment could be dangerous or result in the failure of the project.
